PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide method and apparatus for individually supporting and sealing a heat pipe in a heat exchanger. ;SOLUTION: A heat pipe 22 with fins is passed through a support grid 30 formed of a series of rings fixed to each other, and is supported at the fins seated on the rings 32. To seal the pipe 22 so as to prevent the leakage of gas from the heat exchange, the end of the pipe 22 is inserted to the oversized opening of a tube plate 36. A cover disk for closing the gap between the opening of the plate and the pipe 22 is engaged with the pipe 22, and detachably fixed to the plate. When the disk 38 is removed, the plate 36 and the pipe 22 can be easily removed from the exchangers for maintenance and repair.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
