PURPOSE: To control a temperature of timber by detecting a correct temperature of the timber without detriment to a commodity value of the timber. ;CONSTITUTION: Timber 4 is supported in a state that it is held between electrode plates, and a high frequency is applied to the electrode plates to dry the timber 4 under dielectric heating. In this case, a thermometer 18 is embedded in a portion of the cross-sectional face 4a of the timber 4, and an auxiliary member 20 having the same quality as that of the timber 4 and a predetermined shape is joined to the cross-sectional face 4a, thereby drying the timber 4. During drying treatment, the output of the high frequency is controlled on the basis of temperature data to be detected by the thermometer 18, whereby a temperature of the timber 4 is controlled.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
