PURPOSE: To provide the subject practical knitting device without having an intricate structure and having a high productivity. ;CONSTITUTION: This method for knitting in a circular knitting machine comprises adopting a method for exchanging the relationship of the positions of a lifter and an upper needle in the midst of passing the upper needle and the lifter each other in the course of combined movement of the lifter moving up and down and the upper needle capable of engaging at the upper end part of the lifter. By this, it becomes possible to knit a cable knit having a stable quality and a high productivity. The direction of exchange of the lifter and the needle is set at the relationship of crossing the twisting (Z twist) of a twisted yarn with the twisting (S twist) of a cable knitting.
