PURPOSE:To enable mass proliferation of vesicular-arbuscular(VA) mycorrhizal fungi by cultivating plants infected with the VA mycorrhizal fungi in a culture medium filled with a fine granular compost and coarse granular compost having specific grain diameters and forming mycorrhizal fungal spores. CONSTITUTION:A fine granular compost having 0.1-1mm grain diameter is filled in a housing part 2 for the fine granular compost and a coarse granular compost having a larger grain diameter than that is placed in a housing part 3 for the coarse granular compost. A partition plate (4a) is then pulled out to inoculate the interface between the fine granular compost and the coarse granular compost and the coarse granular compost with plant roots, etc., infected with VA mycorrhizal fungal spores and VA mycorrhizal fungi. Water supply is stopped after about 2-4 month from germination to kill the resultant cultivated plants and the partition plate (4a) is subsequently inserted along guide grooves 5 to cut the roots. A bottom lid 6 is then removed the recover the coarse granular compost. Alternately, the partition plate (4a) may be inserted with the plants in an intact live state without killing thereof to cut the roots. The bottom lid 6 may be subsequently removed to harvest the fine granular compost.
