Method of eliminating dioxin from iron ore agglomeration fumes, wherein at least a portion of said agglomeration fumes are recycled, particularly the portion of the fumes with the highest dioxin content. The fumes are heated, for example in a reaction vessel (7) by means of at least one burner (9), to a temperature of at least 850 degrees C for a time of at least 2 seconds, and the fumes treated in this way are cooled suddenly to a temperature below 200 degrees C. The fumes to be treated (10) are injected into a recycling hood (11) covering the agglomeration belt at least partially, and they are cooled by passing them through a wet zone located under the flame front in the layer of material to be agglomerated. The wet zone preferentially consists of the part of the substance to be agglomerated, which has not yet been reached by the flame front.IMAGE
