METHOD OF MOUNTING EXPLOSION-PROOF BARRIERS AND THE EXPLOSION-PROOF BARRIER INTENDED FOR USE IN UNDERGROUND MINES

Protection for underground mine roadways against coal dust and similar explosions is provided by a method and an explosion barrier in which water pockets (9, 10) produced from a suitable plastics material with a filling valve (14) are all looped around holding rods (11) such that they fix themselves thereon when the extinguishing agent is introduced. These holding rods (11) with the water pockets (9, 10) are suspended in the cross section of the roadway such that they can be reliably destroyed by the pressure surge of an explosion. The water pockets (9, 10) having intentional weak zones (19, 20) on their broad sides (12). The pockets (9, 10) are always looped round the holding rods (11) in the same way and have their filling valves (14) pointing in the same direction at the same position.
