The shell has additional elements increasing penetrating power. The conversion device is intended to change a conventional artillery explosive shell into an armor piercing shell destined to function against concrete structures. The shell includes a front hole (5) which is intended to receive a fuse, and a rear connection which is intended to receive a device reducing aerodynamic drag. It includes a firing box (14) fastened to the shell by the rear connection. This includes a safety and arming device for the charge passing through the wall of the base device. A nose cone (11) is attached to the device by the front hole (5) in the shell.
