The false twisting assembly, for texturising synthetic yarns, has a twist stop unit (65) with a rotating feed roller (30) where the yarns (4) pass round at least partially. It is powered by a drive (46) so that the yarn (4) is braked or advanced. Also claimed is a false twisting action where the draw forces on the yarn are adjustable within the false twisting zone, by the twist stop unit.
