Persalt activators and their salts, which are derived from imidocarboxylic acids and sulphimidocarboxylic acids of the general formula I: IMAGE in which A denotes a group of the formula IMAGE n denotes the numbers 0, 1 or 2, R1 denotes hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, C1-C20-alkyl, C2-C20-alkenyl, aryl, preferably phenyl, or alkylaryl, preferably C1-C4-alkylphenyl, R2 denotes hydrogen, chlorine, bromine or a group of the formula -SO3M, -CO2M or -OSO3M, X denotes C1-C19-alkylene or arylene, preferably phenylene, B denotes a group of the formulae C = O, SO2, L denotes a leaving group of the formula IMAGE or a sugar residue, R3 denotes C1-C19-alkylene, R4, R5 denote C1-C20-alkyl, R6 denotes C1-C19-alkylene, C2-C20-alkenylene, Y denotes hydrogen, chlorine, bromine or a group of the formula -SO3M, -CO2M, -OSO3M, -CONH2, -N(R7)3Z or -P(R7)4Z, R7 denotes C1-C30-alkyl, Z denotes fluoride, chloride, bromide or iodide and M denotes hydrogen, an alkali metal or ammonium ion or the equivalent of an alkaline earth metal ion.
