The subject of the invention is a jack-upoffshore drilling or production oil platform of the typecomprising a barge (1) mounted so that it can be movedbetween a position for floating and a position forproduction out of the water, along bearing legs (2) bymeans of drive mechanisms (10) including at least twoopposed sets (11) each formed of a motor (12) associatedwith at least one set of reduction gears (13) driving,via a shaft, an output pinion (15) interacting withopposed racks (16) mounted on the legs (2).Each rack (16) is provided along a length of thecorresponding leg (2) necessary for moving the barge (1)between the position for floating and the productionposition and in that it includes means for controllingthe lowering of each leg (2) as far as a bearing struc-ture (6) or as far as the seabed (7).
