The invention concerns a device for stabilizing stenosed or angioplastically treated partial regions of a vessel wall, comprising an expandable supporting part (stent), the supporting part (stent) being designed as a tubular element 1, the wall of which has a plurality of supporting elements 2, 2' extending over the entire axial length of the stent and shaped in a meandering or zigzag form in the circumferential direction. The supporting elements are designed in such a way that they exert supporting forces which are effective to differing extents in the radial direction, the expanded stent having, in a known way, essentially the same diameter over its axial length.
