2'3,'-dideoxynucleosides which are effective ininhibiting the infectivity of the human immunodeficiencyvirus and which are stable in an acidic environment aredisclosed, which compounds conform to the formula:(see fig. I)wherein X is selected from the group consisting ofhydrogen, F, CN, N3 and NO2;Y is either H or F; with the proviso that Y isF only when X=H.Also disclosed is a compound of the formula:(see fig.
