The invention relates to 2,2-dialkylpentane1,5-diisocyanates, 2,2-dialkylpentane-1,5-diurethanes and2,2-dialkylpentane-1,5-dicarbamoyl chlorides of the formula:where:R1 and R2 are identical or different linear C1- toC22-alkyl, branched C3- to C12-alkyl, branched C2- to C12-alkenylor branched C4- to C12-alkenyl, or R1 and R2 together arealkylene having from 4 to 7 carbon atoms, which isunsubstituted or substituted by from 1 to 5 C1- to C4alkylgroups, andX is NCO, NH-CO2R3, NHC2R4 or NHCOCl, where R3 and R4 areidentical or different and are linear C1- to C20-alkyl,branched C3- to C20-alkyl or C5- to C12-cycloalkyl. The2,2-dialkylpentane-1,5-diurethanes of the above formula areuseful as pesticides. Like the 2,2-dialkylpentane-1,5-dicarbamoylchlorides also defined above, they are alsouseful for the preparation of the above 2,2-dialkylpentane1,5-diisocyanates, which are themselves useful for thepreparation of compact or cellular plastics bypolyisocyanate polyaddition.
