A mulching cover for a nursery pot includes an apron for shielding the mouth of the pot and a flangefor connecting the apron to the rim of the pot, the apron and the flange being cleaved by a radial breachfor receiving a plant stem. An perforated annular trough circumscribes the perimeter of the apronwhere it meets the flange, the trough serving to retain and dispense any water and fertilizer interceptedby the apron. The flange includes a series of ribs, preferably annular, for engaging the mouth of thepot, particularly where the mouth includes annular troughs as is common. The apron, the trough, andthe flange are resilient and together form a spring biased to open the breach and urge the cover againstthe mouth of the pot to hold the cover in place.
