SEEDING SYSTEM: ALTERNATING PAIRED SEED AND FERTILIZER ROWS

Disclosed is a farm implement used for one-passfertilizing and seeding the soil. The implement has anarrangement of first and second soil openers which areattached to the frame of the implement in such a manner as tocreate, in operation, a pair of parallel seed rows betweenadjacent fertilizer rows. This arrangement facilitates mid-rowbanding of fertilizer. The invention is unique in thatvirtually any cultivator or other such implement can be fittedwith alternating fertilizer and paired seed row soil openers.No additional fertilizer coulters or other heavy attachmentsare necessary. In a particular arrangement fertilizerdistribution soil openers are equipped with a singlefertilizer boot to create a single fertilizer row and seeddistribution soil openers are equipped with splitter seedboots to create a pair of parallel seed rows. The fertilizerdistribution soil openers are typically narrower than the seeddistribution soil openers.
