A troughing idler of an enclosed belt conveyor has ahorizontal shaft that is supported by antifrictionbearings mounted outside of the side walls of thetrunking and carries a medial roller. Each of the sidewalls of the trunking supports a downwardly and inwardlysloping side roller in cantilevered relation by means ofa sidle roller carrier that is mounted on the side walland includes a spindle, a hub, and inboard and outboardantifriction bearings interposed between the spindle andthe hub. The medial roller and the side rollers arearranged relative to each other so as to support the beltwith side portions sloping upwardly and outwardly withrespect to a medial portion.
