Method and apparatus for multi-way conference calling with a full-duplex speakerphone and a digital wireless communication terface

A speakerphone for multi-way conference calling is provided, which incorporates one or more digital wireless communication interfaces, preferably cordless handsets. The device operates in full-duplex mode. A plurality of analog-to-digital converters sample a room talk signal and an input line signal. The samples are digitally added to the signals from the digital wireless communication interface and entered into echo cancellers for elimination of acoustic and line echo. Echo cancellers are preferably adaptive finite impulse response filters using the least-means-squares algorithm. The system can simultaneously train the acoustic echo canceller and the line echo canceller using the wireless interface talker signal.
