Process for the production of grain oriented silicon steel sheets, in which a steel of the following composition, in weight, % C less than 0.040, Al less than 0.020, Si 2.5-4.5, Sn 0.03-0.30, Cu 0.1-0.35, S 0.010-0.025, Mn 0.030-0.30, remaining being iron and minor impurities, is continuously cast in slabs, whose thickness is reduced by 1-10 %, and then hot-rolled with a temperature at the entrance of the finishing stand of between 1050 and 1200 DEG C, within a temperature interval of 30 DEG C, and a temperature of between 900 and 1050 DEG C at the exit from the finishing stand, the strip being forcibly cooled starting after 5-10 s from said exit at a temperature of between 500 and 700 DEG C; the strip is then cold-rolled in at least two reduction stages, after which the usual final treatments are performed, in which during the decarburizing annealing the heating rate is higher than 10 DEG C/s.
