Immunological reagents for use in detecting HHV-6 infection, peptide sequences of HHV-6 for producing the immunological reagents, an assay utilizing the reagents for diagnosis of HHV-6 infections, and test kits that contain one or more of the HHV-6 immunological reagents are provided.
