The invention relates to a grasping member (1) for an excavator or analog having two grasping arms (5) which, in closed position, make an acute angle splitting wedge. Said grasping member is primarily designed to be used in afforestation works, to insert plants in the ground. The grasping element is used, with its grasping arms in closed position, firstly to dig a planting hole through introducing wedge in the desired ground, then said plant, for example a young fir, is grasped by means of grasping arms and inserted in said planting hole. To insert wedge-shaped grasping member, said member is preferably combined with a hydraulic hammer (2). The used excavator is especially a fully all-terrain walking excavator that is preferably provided with basket-type containers useful to transport and keep plants at disposal.
