The preparation of pharmaceutical formulations for inhibiting Riedel's thyroiditis and fibrous inflammatory disease in a human using CHEM wherein R1 and R3 are, independently, -H, -CH3, -CO(C1-C6 alkyl), or -COAr, where Ar is optionally substituted phenyl; R3 is selected from the group consisting of pyrrolidine, piperidine, and hexamethyleneimino; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof.
