Method for integrating level crossings in automatic rail vehicle control and protection

The method has the railway level crossing inserted in the track list for the train automatic safety control as a selectively lifted halt point. The level crossing logic (BUL) has a radio transceiver for communication with each approaching train (Z1,Z2), the halt point lifted when the crossing closure request signal is received by the level crossing logic and a corresponding level crossing closure indication is received by the train. The closure request signal is transmitted from the train at a point ahead of the calculated braking path dependent on the detected train velocity, with the braking command lifted upon reception of the crossing closure indication.
