A CONTROL DEVICE FOR ACHIEVING OPTIMUM USE OF THE ENERGY WHICH IS PRODUCED BY A VESSEL'S MAIN ENERGY SOURCE

A control device for achieving optimum use of the energy from a vessel's main energy source (1, 2). The energy is supplied to motors (11, 12, 13, 14) for movement of the vessel in its longitudinal direction, and possibly motors (33, 34, 38, 39) for movement of the vessel in its transverse direction, together with possible motors for the operation of other devices on board the vessel. The device comprises an electrical control network (8) which links the main energy source (1, 2), the generator device (5, 6) and the motors to a man÷uvring device (45), a programmable, logic control device, hereinafter called PLS device (46), and possibly a global positioning system, hereinafter called GP system (47). The PLS device (46) is arranged to receive information concerning a desired movement of the vessel from, e.g. the man÷uvring device (45) or the GP system (47) and to transmit control impulses to the motors for the operation thereof based on an optimization data programme for achieving the desired movement of the vessel with a minimum energy consumption.
