The unit has a refrigeration compartment for storing goods to be cooled, air conducting duct, containing an evaporator (6) and a fan (7) for the production of a circulating air flow, partly surrounding the cooling compartment, which has an access opening. The air inlet (10) and outlet (12) open out in the vicinity of the access opening. The opening-closing blocking louvres (18) are arranged at the air inlets and outlet respectively. A bridging duct (14) is designed in the air conducting duct, separated by a wall from the evaporator and the fan. In the normal cooling operation the louvres are held open. With the reversal of direction of the circulating flow, the louvres are automatically closed.
