Use of annexine as lupus anticoagulation controle or standard in coagulation tests

Control and/or calibration plasma for use in clotting tests contains one or more annexins to simulate lupus anticoagulant. Also claimed is a clotting test using a plasma as above, where the annexin concentration is such that the clotting time or activity is outside the normal range. Also claimed is a method for testing the phospholipid dependence of the increase in clotting time caused by adding one or more annexins to natural plasma, in which phospholipids are added to the assay mixture "via the reagent, by addition of the sample or separate addition with or without preincubation of the sample with the phospholipid".
