The present invention relates to a catalyst for reduction reaction of sulfur dioxide containing titanium oxide and tin oxide, and a method for recovering elemental sulfur from sulfur dioxide using carbon monoxide as a reducing agent using the catalyst. In the catalyst of the present invention, the tin oxide is mixed with titanium oxide in an amount of 0.1 to 5 in terms of Sn / Ti atomic ratio, or the tin is supported on the titanium oxide carrier in an amount of 7 to 20 wt%. The catalyst of the present invention is capable of recovering elemental sulfur at a relatively low temperature from a sulfur dioxide gas at a high yield.
