The present invention provides a 2 × 2 using a nonlinear optical loop mirror that can increase the exchange capacity by allowing the switching of packet-type optical signals to optical control signals only without the help of electrical signals, instead of the conventional electro-optical switches limited by the switching speed. A packet optical switch is disclosed.
