The present invention relates to a method for detecting a position correction landmark and a mobile robot control system using the same, wherein an initial point for chain coding is detected by searching an image photographed by a camera for a position correction landmark, and chain code data is generated based on the initial point. Step (S1 ~ S5) for the chain coding, if the generated chain code data is examined and if not suitable, the step of the chain coding is performed again and if appropriate, it is recognized as a landmark candidate and the portion surrounded by the chain code data Computing the center point (S6 to S7) and displaying the mark point from the recognized landmark candidate to perform position correction (S8 to S10). With this landmark detection method, even in a noisy condition, the landmark can be accurately detected and the initial position can be recognized.
