The present invention discloses a soft brake apparatus for braking a reel disk of a tape recorder which imparts back tension to a tape. The soft brake device of the present invention has a soft brake member having one end fixed part, the other end connected part, and a part of its body elastically contacted with the disk to be wound, and the soft brake is rotated by the rotation arm. The contact portion of the member is optionally in contact with the reeling disk. The present invention is an effective design that increases the product value of the tape recorder employing the same by providing a soft brake member having a cost reduction and an extended life.
