FIELD: nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: device is built around converging-diverging nozzle; it is, essentially, small-size item inserted in protected pipeline that bursts in case of accident to limit hot coolant flow within a few minutes sufficient to take measures for accident confinement. Uniform field of flow velocities is formed throughout entire sectional area of pipeline immediately downstream of limiting insert due to replacing one high-speed stream escaping converging- diverging nozzle and equal in its flow rate to pipeline flow by many small jets uniformly distributed over entire cross-sectional area of pipeline whose total rate equals pipeline flow. Reach distance of these jets equals maximum ten diameters of diffuser outlet sectional area in small converging-diverging nozzle which makes it possible to insert device in narrow spaces of pipelines just upstream of pipe valves such as upstream of check valve, without danger of its destruction by high-speed jet escaping converging-diverging nozzle.
