Disclosed is a method for determining a reference handwriting feature out of a feature sample by establishing a constant mean, taking into account the variability of the line characteristics specific to a handwriting. The inventive method aims at determining a storable reference signature as a representative signature for the purposes of authenticating signatures, for example during an access control by means of an electronic signature.
