The optical pulse reflectometer has at least one light source (30) especially a laser diode, and at least one connection unit, for the connecting of at least one object e.g. fiber optic (60). Also included is at least one photo detector (7) and an indicating unit (90). The at least one optical switching point (40) is provided for the intended connecting of the light source (30) with the measuring object to be assigned. The optical point switch (40) is a 2 X 2 directional coupler or an acousto-optical modulator.
