Measuring level of protein biosynthesis using photoprotein loaded with co-factor during translation as reporter for screening for biologically active compounds

A method for monitoring the level of protein biosynthesis is new and comprises using a DNA or RNA template (I) encoding a photoprotein (II), as reporter, which is expressed in a protein biosynthesis system. (II) becomes loaded with a co-factor (III) during its translation and bioluminescence of the loaded (II) is measured.
