Determination of fluid volume extracted from vessel by automatic pipette in e.g. molecular biology procedure

The liquid volume in the vessel V1a is detected and stored in a computer. A volume Vist is extracted in a pipette. The residual volume is also detected and stored. The volume extracted, V1ist is determined from V1a - V1e = V1ist. The difference between the that actually removed and the desired extraction V1soll is determined in the computer from V1ist - V1soll = V1diff. The difference V1diff is compared with a given fluid volume iota 1 using the computer. An error message is given if V1diff exceeds iota 1.
