New assay for inosine 5'-monophosphate dehydrogenase activity in blood, useful for monitoring immunosuppressive status of cancer or transplant patients

An assay for determining the inosine 5'-monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) activity in mammalian blood is new and comprises performing an IMPDH-catalyzed reaction with a lysate of a blood cell fraction, containing mononuclear cells in a radioactivity-free reaction mixture and measuring the amount of nonradioactive reaction product formed per unit time.
