The cutting unit (1) can be attached to a tractor. It can pivot on a number of suitable joint elements (6-8). The cutting disc is equipped with several cutting blades (29,30) specifically arranged in order to enter the soil transversal to the row, chop the roots, lift the chopped pieces from the soil and spread them on the surface as an organic fertilizer. The cutting unit (1) can be easily lifted by the use of a hydraulically operated cylinder (25) to avoid contact with the grapevine supporting poles.
