The method involves acquiring images of the folds (9) in the products (8) using a camera (2), converting the acquired image into digital image information, reducing the information to curve sections and determining the number of press products in a stack (7) by evaluating one fold of a press product w.r.t. curve sections. Each curve in the reduced image is associated with the half axis of a rotated ellipse and a threshold value determined from the size of the ellipse. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for implementing the method.
