PROCESS FOR FACILITATING THE STORAGE AND DISCHARGE OF SILICA FUMES, SILICA FUMES TREATED ACCORDING TO THE PROCEDURE AND APPLICATION TO THE PREPARATION OF MORTAR OR CONCRETE

A process is claimed for facilitating the stocking and disposal of silica fumes in which these fumes are mixed with sand, possibly with a filler, in a manner that the porous volume of the sand may be at least equal to the absolute volume of the silica fumes augmented by the absolute volume of the filler. The sand used has a granulometry which is predominantly in the range of about 100 to 800 microns. The proportions of sand and filler used are such that the silicon fumes constitute in excess of 35 percent by weight of the mixture. The proportions of sand and filler used are about 1 part of filler to 4 parts of sand. The filler is chosen from a group made up of crushed quartz and carbonates. The silica fumes treated by this process are also claimed, along with their application in the preparation of a mortar or a concrete by mixing with cement and the other constituents of mortar and concrete.
