Plate anti - emulsion of oil, the casing and internal combustion engine relates to an oil pan

An anti-emulsion plate (15), designed to be located in an i.c. engine crankcase close to the oil return pipe to reduce turbulence, has a fixing in the form of a lip (19) which projects from the crankcase and can be compressed when the crankcase is fitted to the engine's cylinder block. The lip (19) is made from a synthetic elastic material, with the plate (15) made from the same material but reinforced with glass fibres. It also has a metal insert (18) for a fixing screw (20) connecting it to the crankcase, while the latter has a concave base with reinforcing ribs dividing its oil receiving sump into a number of sections.
