The invention concerns a motor vehicle power-operated window lift, comprising a mechanism for driving the window, an electric motor (3) provided with an anti-pinch system which can be triggered when there is an obstacle on the window travel, and an electronic circuit for controlling the motor and the anti-pinch system. Said window lift comprises mechanical means (17) limiting the stiffness of an obstacle to reduce the pinch force on hard obstacles, by mechanically reducing the hardness of an obstacle when the window is being raised. In the case of a window lift operated with cable (8, 9) and a slide (12) guide rail (11) supporting the window, the stiffness limiting means consist of a spring (17) series-connected with the top cable (8) sheath, having a stiffness of about at least 10N/mm, and so arranged as to be urged to act as limit stop only by the effect of a compression force of about at least 250 Newton's. Said spring constitutes a shock absorber in case of strong impact, transforming it into a relatively mild impact, thereby providing more time for the electronic circuit controlling the anti-pinch system to intervene and reduce the pinch force.
