The coupling comprises a first component (3) attached to a first tube (6), and a second component (2) surrounding a second tube (5) with an end member (51) which is expanded with the aid of a lock and release system (4). The two components (2, 3) have a spring (44) to compress the expanded member against a sealing surface (31) of the first component (3) with the aid of a sealing member (20) of the second component. The contact surface of the expanded member forms a seal ring (11) of variable diameter.
