The tube has an open end 144 and, proximal thereto, first and second radially-projecting flanges 150, 160 forming a channel 165 therebetween for receiving the round shank of a diaphragm seal (Fig.8). Alternatively, the flanges may be provided on an adapter ring (Fig.21) for a conventional vacuum tube. The device may be used in conjunction with a constrictor ring (Fig.3) which fits against the base of the penis, the diaphragm seal forming an air-tight seal against the ring such that vacuum pressures of over 17 in. (c.430 mm) of Hg may be attained. The seal has a flexible tubular wall which is movable into a stable collapsed position (Fig. 13) and a tear drop-shaped inner shank (92) formed integrally with the inner end of the tubular wall. A control plug (180) incorporating a vacuum relief valve 190, pressure gauge 192 and air filter 193 may be received in the other open end of the vacuum tube.
