Inspection method of the risk of osteoporosis fractures and bone fragility

PURPOSE: To provide an effective method for assessing a bone fragility and an osteoporotic fracture risk. ;CONSTITUTION: This method for assessing a fragility and an osteoporotic fracture risk is to measure the concentration of an under-carboxylated osteocalcin in a biological fluid sample such as a serum, a plasma or a urine at the outside of the body, and compare the concentration of the under-carboxylated osteocalcin in the sample with the concentration in a control sample containing levels of under-carboxylated osteocalcin representative of the upper limit of the normal range. In this case, if the concentrations exceeds the above limit, it is indicative of the bone fragility and the risk of osteoporotic fracture.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
