PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a semi-submarine type catamaran ship to navigate stably on the rough water surface. ;SOLUTION: When a hull is longitudinally inclined during navigation, self- restoring moment MS is generated on the basis of the value of longitudinal metacentric height GML determined according to the water line area of a strut 3, while the Munk instability moment MM that is going to incline the hull in the direction of inclination is generated on the basis of the shape of a submerged part of the hull. The strut 3 is designed to take such value of longitudinal metacentric height GML as to make the value of the self-restoring moment Ms smaller than the Munk instability moment. This strut 3 puts the hull in an unstable state by residual Munk instability moment (MM-MS) at the time of the hull being longitudinally inclined during navigation so as to facilitate suppression of hull inclination by small control fins 5 of small area.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
