PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject material capable of inhibiting the propagation of mouse leukemia cells in a low concentration and useful as a carcinostatic agent, or the like by culturing a microorganism belonging to the genus Streptomyces and having a function of producing the antibiotic material having the carcinostatic activity. ;SOLUTION: This new carcinostatic antibiotic material 14A5 has the following physicochemical properties. Melting point; 155-160°C, [α]20D; +258° (C-0.01, CHCl3), mass spectrum (FAB-MS)=m/z 510 (M+H)+, UV spectrum [λmax, nm (E11cm)], 90% MeOH; 492, (293), 293 (160), 254 (461), 234 (813). The antibiotic material 14A5 inhibits the propagation of mouse leukemia cells in a low concentration, is useful as a carcinostatic agent, and is obtained by culturing a microorganism belonging to the genus Streptomyces and having a function of producing the antibiotic material 14A5, and collecting the antibiotic material therefrom.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
