Peptides derived from the envelope glycoproteins of HIV viruses, detection of infections caused by these viruses and use of these peptides for vaccination against AIDS

Peptides which issue from the glycoprotein envelope of the HIV virus and corresponding to one of the following formulae: X-Arg-Ile-Leu-Ala-Val-Glu-Arg-Tyr-Leu-Lys-Asp-Gln-Gln-Leu-Leu-Gly-Ile- Trp-Gly-Cys-Ser-Gly-Lys-Leu-Ile-Cys-Z (I X-Ala-Ile-Glu-Lys-Tyr-Leu-Gln-Asp-Gln-Ala-Arg-Leu-Asn-Ser-Trp-Gly-Cys- Ala-Phe-Arg-Gln-Val-Cys-Z (II in which X represents an NH2 group which is free or aminated by one or two alkyl groups comprising 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and Z represents either a free OH or alkoxy group, containing in the latter case an alkyl group comprising 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and in which at least one of the Cys residues is deleted, substituted or protected. Use in the detection of an infection due to HIV-1 and/or HIV-2 virus and in vaccination against AIDS.
