PURPOSE: To grind and polish a glass plate into a circular form even in and around a boundary between one side surface and an end edge part of this glass plate by installing a sidelong grinding surface of a truncated cone and another grinding surface with a rotary circular part ranging to the large diametral side of this grinding surface both in a rotating grinding surface. ;CONSTITUTION: A rotary circular part of a second grinding surface 40 is almost close to the upper half of and end edge part 90 of a glass plate G, and the flat grinding surface part 40b is projected onto a top face 92a of the glass plate G. Likewise at a part coming into contact with the end edge part 90, a first grinding surface 38 is almost vertical with both upper and lower surfaces 92a and 92b. A tilt angle of a turning shaft O of a grinding wheel 10 to the top face 92a of the glass plate G comes to an obtuse angle. Therefore, even at a boundary vicinity B with the top face 92a, such force as pressing a rotating grinding surface 42 to the side of a polished surface of the end edge part 900 effectively works.
