PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To normally reproduce images of different types for respective track numbers in special reproduction such a fast-forward/rewind reproductions. SOLUTION: Among bits of sequence header information, a fluctuating part code fluctuated for each track number and pattern data as a pattern code are prestored as table data in a table data ROM 9, bits of sequence data for all track numbers are read during initialization and the pattern data converted based on the table data is stored in a RAM 8, the pattern data of a track number changed by seeking before/after a current time is read from the RAM 8 at the time of a fast-forwarding/rewinding reproduction mode and the sequence header information converted based on the table data is set in an MPEG decoder 5.
