PURPOSE: To prevent malfunction of fail-safe in the on-vehicle multiplex communication equipment. ;CONSTITUTION: A condition discrimination means 4 of a 1st controller 1 detects and discriminates an occurrence condition of a voltage drop of a battery at engine start and provides an output of a low voltage prediction signal K. A fail safe control means 5 provides an output of a fail safe monitor stop signal U when the signal K is outputted and provides a fail safe monitor start signal V when the signal K is stopped and a multiplex communication equipment 6 sends the signals U,V. A multiplex communication circuit 7 of other controller 2 receives the signal U to provide an output of a fail safe circuit stop signal W and receives the signal V to stop the signal W. A fail safe means 8 stops the fail safe monitor based on the signal W and restores the fail safe monitor when the signal W is stopped to implement fail safe by time measurement. Since the operation of a fail safe means is stopped by detecting a voltage drop occurrence condition in advance, malfunction is prevented without taking a long fault detection time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
