PURPOSE: To obtain an optimal vehicle entering cage based on the estimation of vehicle entering and outgoing state after empty cages are filled up with vehicles by determining overall cost estimated values for all empty cages at the time when first entry of vehicle into any cage takes place, and selecting an empty cage for which the overall cost estimated value becomes minimal. ;CONSTITUTION: Vehicle entering cost estimated values for empty cages are determined on the basis of a weight balance estimated value obtained by assuming that a vehicle 6 weighting 1 is entered into a cage C2 in such a state where vehicles 2, 3, 4, each of which weighs 1, are entered into cage C1, C4, C5 respectively, and a vehicle 5 weighting 2 is entered into a cage C6, a cage-moving time estimated value, and the power consumption estimated value. Next the minimum value out of next-car entering cost estimated values determined for all empty cages, is selected by using the vehicle entering state assumed in determining the vehicle entering cost estimated values as a new reference state is multiplied by the vehicle entering probability at the present time, and then added to the vehicle entering cost estimated values. Subsequently the next-car outgoing cost estimated values determined for the car-entered cages in the reference state, are multiplied by the car-outgoing probabilities for respective car-entered cages, and are added up. The sum of the next-car entering cost estimated values is further added to the vehicle entering cost estimated values, and an empty cage in which the obtained, overall cost estimated value is minimal, is selected as the optimal vehicle-entering cage.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
